Folio 409: Richard Runwa Bowyer, Regulating Officer, Lynn. He returns Mr. Wittingham's letter and the person in question, Edward Yates, was impressed out of a house on 2 December 1809. Information received states he is 20 years of age, has bee 9 years at sea and was sent to Yarmouth by HMS Fair Cutter. As he has no tender he has to keep impressed men at the rendevous until he has a number and then has to apply to Admiral Douglas for the use of a tender. The said Yates has made the most of this situation and his behaviour has bee riotous.
Folios 410-411: enclosure with folio 409. Letter dated 10 December 1809 by W. Wittingham, Lynn. He is writing on behalf of Edward Yates, pressed at home on 2 December 1809. He has served as Mate on a vessel out of this port was at home to try to improve his navigation skills by attending a course. Asks if a substitute may be arranged for him.
