Folios 343-344: Joseph Bingham, Grove House, Lymington. Concerning the letter of 14 October, 1809 which he has just received. In reply he states the claims of the prisoners on board HMS Bahama, that he promised them wages for helping to bring home a prize of the HMS Sceptre and that he would try to secure their release, are untrue. He was carrying a lot of prisoners and some volunteered to work their passage and get full allowance, with which they were satisfied. He sent 15 to each of the Norge and Princess Maria prizes to be considered prisoners at large. He informed them on the Quarter deck, in front of Officers that they were not to expect any wages.
