Folio 512: Andrew Broun, Regulating Officer, Greenock. States that Andrew Valance entered with Lieutenant Smith as Glasgow on the 10 December 1808, he is 16 a Blacksmith by trade. He returns the Impress Warrant sent for Lieutenant Blair who was appointed to HMS Tonnant last May.
Folios 513-515: enclosure with folio 512. Letter dated 21 December 1808 by Robert Valance, Glasgow, to the Admiralty. Request to have Andrew Valance aged 14 and impressed on the 13 December 1808 released.
