Folios 245-249: Edward Brace, HMS Virginie, Spithead. As directed by Vice Admiral James Hawkins-Whitshed, states the case of Archibald Nicholson. He is 36 years old, by trade a Whitesmith and was impressed on 24 October 1805 from his occupation on shore, he has taken the Kings bounty of £2-10-0 as an Ordinary Seaman and his health is much impaired by an injury he received from a fall.
Folio 246: enclosure with folios 245-249. Nicholas Nicholson, Jeweller, City of York to the Admiralty. Memorial of Nicholas Nicholson who has a brother serving on HMS Virginie named Archibald Nicholson. States that Archibald is a married man with two children request he be discharged with a promise of a substitute or substitutes.
Folio 247: enclosure with folios 245-249, Certificate dated 14 November 1808. The petitioner is known to be a respected citizen. . Signed John Forster - Mayor, William Jamison Junior - Sheriff and Arthur Perrier - Sheriff and Thomas Harris, Council Speaker.
