Folios 239-240: Edward Brace HMS Virginie, Hamoaze. On the direction of Rear Admiral James Hawkins-Whitshed he reports that a man named Andrew Whiteman, not Samuel Whitehouse is on HMS Virginie and was impressed at Cove by the gang had no protection nor has he made any application to the American Consul therefore he concludes the one in question comes from a business which hee experienced in more instances than one, and as the enclosed [not present] protection does not agree in name or description it proves that it is erroneous.
