Folios 90-100: Christopher Bell, HMS Phipps, Portsmouth.
Folios 90-91: Reports his arrival from Havana and New Providence. Refers to enclosures from Governor Cameron and Colonel Williamson the latter sent to Cuba on a secret mission by the British government. He left for England without ordered Vice Admiral Sir Josias Rowley as he judged Williamson's journey home to be very important. Williamson died on board. Bell explains that his written orders from Vice Admiral Rowley concerning prisoners were expanded by secret verbal orders to land certain officers on Cuba. HMS Phipps was received well by the inhabitants of Cuba while the Governor and Vice-Admiral offered every assistance.
Folios 92-93: Vice Admiral Bartholomew Samuel Rowley, HMS Shark, 21 July 1808, orders Captain Bell to fly the flag of truce and take prisoners to Cuba together with the following men who have dispatches for the Governor: Captain Foster, Colonel Williamson, Mr Carle the interpreter, and Mr Pavia.
Folio 93: Letter dated 24 August 1808 by Christopher Bell, HMS Phipps, Nassau, to Captain Jeremiah Coghlan, HMS Elk seeking permission to call at Havana to collect Captain Foster. HMS Sandwich and HMS Redbridge are at Nassau.
Folio 94: Letter dated 10 August 1808 by Christopher Bell, HMS Phipps, Havana, writes to Colonel Williamson asking when the responses to dispatches might be obtained.
Folios 95-96: Letter dated 23 August 1808 by Christopher Bell, HMS Phipps, New Providence, writes to Vice Admiral Rowley about the urgency of getting certain letters to England.
Folio 96: Letter dated 22 August 1808 by Christopher Bell, HMS Phipps, Nassau, encloses for Governor Cameron a copy of a letter from Colonel Williamson.
Folio 97: Letter dated 21 August 1808 by Charles Cameron, Government House encloses a letter from Colonel Williamson and asks that he be taken immediately to England.
Folio 98: Letter dated 13 August 1808 by Charles Williamson and Captain Foster, Havanna, ask that Williamson be taken to England.
Folio 99: Letter dated 22 August 1808 by Charles Williamson, Nassau New Providence, asks that Captain Bell call at Havana to collect Captain Foster and Mr Pavia. The impportance of the secret mission is emphasised.
Folios 100-101: Letter dated 21 August 1808 by Charles Williamson writes to Governor Cameron stressing the urgency of his return to London with secret information that cannot be committed to paper.
