Folio 448: George Byng, HMS Bellliqueux, Table Bay. Commodore Sir Home Popham has appointed Midshipman John Craske as a Lieutenant in his ship. Asks for this order, a copy of which he has already send to the Admiralty, to be confirmed as Craske has served under him for two years, is an orphan, and has no one else to exercise influence on his behalf.
