He has served in the Navy for 20 years, nine as a Commander, has two brothers who died as Lieutenants and a father who served the government for 68 years. Hopes this justifies the request he made in his letter to the Admiralty the previous day [for a posting on shore]. He needs to support his aged father-in-law Mr. Sykes and his mother.
