Folios 205-206: Charles Brisbane, HMS Arethusa, Carlisle Bay, Barbados. Reports his arrival with a convoy of eight ships, has remained in the anchorage because the convoy was disbursed by an enemy squadron off Cape Finisterre and most of the missing ships are bound for Jamaica. He thinks it likely that these will call in at Barbados to pick up another convoy, and four have arrived already since he reached the island. Two of the Masters report that none of the ships which sailed to the south [from Cape Finisterre] were captured, and those which sailed to the north he has already brought safely to Barbados. Encloses [no longer present] his log book.
