Description

Folios 378-379: G E B Bettesworth [George Edmund Byron Bettesworth], HMS Crocodile, Chatham. Requests the appointment of Mr Ellard, gunner on HMS Discovery, to replace Mr Lightfoot as gunner on HMS Crocodile. The latter no longer feels capable of undertaking the duties after losing a leg. He recommends him for promotion and to a ship in ordinary.

Folios 379-381: enclosure with folios 378-379. Letter dated 21 July 1806 by Robert Lightfoot, HMS Crocodile to G E B Bettesworth. Requests a new appointment to in ordinary due to his awkward situation, the loss of a leg, and his length of service.

Folio 380: blank.
