Folio 250: John Bastard. Letter from Sir Edward Pellew, Baronet, Rear Admiral of the White, to Lieutenant John Bastard of HMS Culloden appointing him acting commander of HMS Rattlesnake. He is replacing William James Lye, who is appointed to command HMS Terpsichore.
Folio 251: enclosure with folio 250. Letter dated 22 May 1806 [author unknown] recording the following appointments: Captain Thomas Gordon Caulfield from HMS Grampus to HMS Russell; Captain Walter Bathurst from HMS Terpsichore to HMS HMS Grampus: Captain William James Lye from HMS Rattlesnake to HMS Terpsichore and Lieutenant John Bastard to HMS Rattlesnake.
