Folios 236-237: Edward Bass, HMS Gannet, Oporto. Reports arrival at Oporto having parted company with HMS Cerberus and HMS Merlin on 3 April 1806 and with HMS Euryalus and HMS Ocean. States he will comply with a request from the Consul and from the Factory at the expiration of which he he will take all that are ready and proceed on the 22nd, as directed, to Cruize to annoy the enemy and protect the trade.
Folio 237: enclosure with folios 236-237. Letter dated 6 April 1806 by Edward Bass to William Warre HM Consul at Oporto. Gives notice of his intention to remain for three days to take instructions and take any vessels under his protection, willing to accompany him.
Folio 238: enclosure with folios 236-237. Letter dated 8 April 1806 by William Warre to Edward Bass. Acknowledges Bass's letter and asks him to wait longer when 25 vessels will be ready and asks that he cruise the coast to deter enemies.
