Folio 118: George Barker, Regulating Captain, Bristol. Reports on the case of Francis Metcalf, impressed on 18 February, from the American Brig Henry, as Chief Mate and passing as for an American. He states the man is English, well known in Bristol and previously declared himself born in Lancashire.
Folios 119-120: enclosure with folio 118. An affidavit dated 25 February 1806 prepared by Elias Vander Horst, Consul of the USA for the Port of Bristol, stating James Metcalf was born in New York.
