Description

Folio 356: Edward Bass, HMS Gannet, off Penzance. William Hervey produced a discharge from HMS Windsor Castle obtained about 3 months ago after which he entered almost immediately on board hired armed brig HMS Caroline. Lieutenant Darby reports that he behaved in a mutinous manner and threatened to murder him. He was prevented by Lieutenant Wells of HMS Gannet helping to secure him. He understands he was put on board HMS Caroline by the American Consul who is a part owner.
