Folios 137-138: George Barker, Regulating Officer, Bristol. He responds to a query regarding Thomas Lanahan who is a substitute for Jonathan Hulbart, Landsman, serving in the Channel fleet. He says that there is no truth in the claim that he was pressed as he arrived from Liverpool and said he had accepted 8 guineas to substitute for Thomas Lanahan. Benjamin Chaplain was identified as belonging to HMS Champion and sent to Plymouth to be put aboard the flagship.
