Folio 404: Charles Austen, HMS Cleopatra, Spithead. James Loveless has been sent to HMS Zephyr so he is sending in a testimonial for him.
Folio 405: enclosed in folio 404. Memorial dated 28 July 1811 by James Loveless, HMS Cleopatra, Spithead, to John Wilson Croker, Secretary of the Admiralty. A testimonial by James Loveless who was with HMS Resistable and Captain Grindall in action on 1st June 1795 and then with Captain Martin at Cape St Vincent. He was with Captain Martin cutting out vessels from Genoa when he was wounded and wounded again in both legs when replacing the topmast flags on HMS Northumberland for Admiral Duckworth. He was then Boatswain on HMS Favourite and the acting Boatswain on HMS Cleopatra. He hopes to be made Boatswain.
