Folio 245: William Autridge, HMS Erebus, Yarmouth Roads. Benjamin Major, aged 13, was drafted from HMS Ceres as a volunteer.
Folios 246-247: enclosed in folio 245. Letter dated 16 January 1811 by Benjamin Major, HMS Erebus, Yarmouth to his mother. He is sorry he ran away and joined the Navy as he is tired of seafaring and wishes to join his friends and parents but he knows he cannot. Post script from H.H. Budd [Henry Hayward Budd]l 1st Lieutenant saying he made Major write home and he is a good boy and he will try to help.
Folio 248: enclosed in folio 245. Letter dated 8 January 1811 by Henry Drummond, Charing Cross. He asks if Benjamin Major can be released.
Folio 249: enclosed in folio 245. Undated letter by Henry Drummond, Charing Cross. Charles Drummond requests that Henry Drummond sends another letter as the 1st Lieutenant of the ship makes no objection to the boy being discharged.
