Folio 231-232: John Ayscough, HMS Success, off Civita Vecchia, Coast of Rome. John Bishop, Midshipman was put in charge of a French brig, captured by HMS Spartan from Port Temicini, Calabria, to go to Messina with HMS Espoir and on to Malta. Captain Mitford of HMS Espoir, reported that the brig sprung a leak and only the men were rescued, no belongings or papers were saved.
