Folio 370: John Aylmer, HMS Captain, Hamoaze. Asks for the appointment of another boatswain. States the one recently appointed from HMS Gladiator is 67 years old and nearly blind and has not been in actual service since 1783.
Folios 371-372: Enclosure with folio 370. Letter dated 25 November 1797 by J. Bishop, boatswain of HMS Captain. Hamoaze. Informs the captain that his age and bad health make him incapable of further service and asks to be superannuated.
