Folio 408: Edward Buller, HMS Malta, Cawsand Bay. States he feels exceedingly hurt and sorry to find that Sir Richard John Strachan should suppose him capable intentionally of disobeying his orders on parting company from HMS Donegal contrary to his wish. When Sir Richard John Strachan left HMS Malta on 5 September 1803 he understood that he was immediately to proceed, there were several strange vessels not far from HMS Donegal when he made sail and as no signal was made he concluded the guns were fired were intended to bring them to.
