Folio 241: John Broughton, HMS Magnanime, Kingroad. Respecting Lieutenant J. Arundel Hodgskin, no survey was held on him. Enclosed you will receive the Surgeons report. Broughton's reason for another Lieutenant was from Lieutenant J. Arundel Hodgskin being unable to do his duty and the ship being one Lieutenant short. Requests to be informed if Lieutenant Hodgskin is to be superceded from Lieutenant Piece appointment or to remain one of the Lieutenants of the ship.
