Folio 182: William Robert Broughton, HMS Penelope, Yarmouth Roads. Reply to Mr Mansden's letter dated 19 April 1803 respecting Bartlett Coffin and Mahew Tilton. States that Bartlett Coffin appears to answer the description of his certificate and says he was impressed from a vessel bound to Lisbon, where he was going then to America. The other not agreeing with the protection he encloses [not present]. HE thought it proper to detain him, suspecting Mr Ervings signature not being correct. He says he was bound for London and Lisbon on his return to America.
