Folio 154: William Robert Broughton, HMS Penelope, Yarmouth Roads. Reply to letter dated 8 April 1803 informs that Richard Johnson was captured and detained by HMS Badger, Excise Cutter ten days ago, being one of the crew on the Vyheid from Flushing bound for the coast of Norfolk with a cargo of Gin. He states he is an American born at Middleton in Connecticut but has no documents to prove his citizenship. Reports that HMS Leda sailed on 8 April 1803 and HMS Mallard, Gun Brig arrived.
