Folio 408: Philip Beaver, Maldon. Returns Lieutenant Baker's letter (not with Captain Beaver's letter) and confirms he has visited Tillingham Grange, the signal post where Lieutenant Baker is stationed. It is not possible to procure water closer than 3 to 4 miles away on a road which in winter is extremely bad. Believes it is necessary to supply an animal so that water can be procured for those at the station.
