Folios 401-402: Philip Beaver, Maldon. Cannot make a report of numbers enrolled at the Sea Fencibles this week as officers have only just started at their various locations. Has visited Signal Tower at Bradwell and all appears in order. There are three Signal Towers between Bradwell and the Nore - The Grange, Foulness and Wakering. As no officer at Foulness the signal never reaches the Nore. Has no boat at his disposal which believes would be useful. Knows of one called the Isis, about 31 foot and 17 tons which had been used for smuggling and will be broken up. With repairs costing about £20 would be useful and could be used by the Collector of Customs as their vessel is not useable in strong winds.
