Folio 460: From John [Barrett?], surgeon to the Garrison at Edinburgh. On behalf of Captain Andrew Brown, who is very anxious but unable to write, he is sending a certificate.
Folio 461: enclosure with folio 460. Surgeon's survey dated 24 July 1802 of Captain Brown reports that he was taken severely ill with gout on 21 July, whilst en route for London and his symptoms continue. It is impossible to say when he might be fit to undertake a journey or do duty on board ship.
