Folio 365: Richard Bridges, HMS Woolwich, at the Nore. Advising that George Massio, a French deserter from the Alexandria, was sent aboard the Woolwich from the Foudroyant at Aboukir Bay on 11 August. He had a pass from Lord Keith, allowing him to go anywhere on his own affairs. However, the governors of Malta, Minorca, and Gibraltar all refused to allow him to stop, and on arrival at the Downs, Bridges sent him ashore at Deal - to no avail, as being without money to subsist he had been sent back to the ship by the port admiral. The latter advised Bridges to write to the Transport Board concerning this man. He did so but has not had an answer and asks how the man is to be disposed of.
