Description

Folios 356-357: Jahleel Brenton, HMS Minerve, Deptford. Advising that when the ship's surgeon came on board, a seaman named Thomas Smith was found to have one arm so badly damaged that he was unfit for service, and the surgeon's opinion was that only 'electricity' might effect a cure. As the man is a deserving character Brenton has found him a place in the St Bartholomew Hospital and given him leave of absence. Now asks for their Lordships' opinion on whether the man should be given further leave of absence if needed or if he should be discharged from the service.
