Folio 271: William Bowen, HMS Caroline at Woolwich. As directed in Admiralty letter of 5 January he has examined the man Christian Frederick, who appears to be a native of Denmark. He says he entered on board HMS Gorgon at Cadiz, in September 1794. From that ship he was sent into the Triton a few months later, and received the bounty as an able seaman. He stayed in the Triton until she was decommissioned in November 1795, when he joined the Caroline and has remained ever since - Bowen awaits their directions as to whether to discharge him.
