Folio 263: James Bowen, HMS Argo at sea. Advising that his boatswain, John Liming, has been pronounced by the surgeon to be so weakened by a severe bout of fever that his life is in danger. Bowen agrees with the diagnosis and says that to preserve the life of a good man he has given him leave to go home in one of the rice ships now in convoy with them, with a sick ticket for the first hospital he may arrive at.
