Folios 258-259: George Bowen, Tavistock Street, Bedford Square. Advising that as he was made post captain, Rear Admiral Richard Bickerton ordered Mr John Richardson, first lieutenant of the Penelope, to supersede him as commander of HMS Alligator. This took place in Malta on 12 July 1802, and he himself took passage home in the Penelope. Therefore asks that he may be placed on the half-pay list from that date.
