Folios 244-245: James Boorder, HMS Pylades, Leith Roads. Acknowledges receipt of Admiralty orders that day. On the state of the ship he says the caulker and carpenter are fixing trifling defects but the ship needs to go in to a King's Yard to get a proper survey of the ladders, the gratings also a problem, and the upper works, where caulking appears of no benefit. Says the fact that the boatswain's and carpenter's defects were sent without his own signature was a mistake for which he apologises. Encloses a fresh report from the carpenter.
Folio 245: enclosure with folios 244-245. Carpenter's report for dated 23 May 1802 explaining that he discovered the upper parts of the ship needed general survey, seeming unimproved after being attended to at Sheerness Yard, signed David Todd, carpenter, and signed off by Captain Boorder.
