Description

Folio 418: George Burdon, Regulating Officer, Appledore, Devon. Advises that the 2 seamen he has recently impressed are claiming to belong to the Renown Excise Cutter and encloses the documents found on them.

Folio 419: enclosure with folio 418. Certificate, dated 4 March 1801, signed by James White, Commander, the Renown Excise Cutter, Milford Haven. Certifies that Thomas Morgan, aged 21, belongs to the Renown and that he was left on shore sick but now wishes to rejoin the cutter at Dartmouth. Gives brief physical description of Rowlands.

Folio 420: enclosure with folio 418. Certificate, dated 7 March 1801, signed by William Simons, Port Surveyor, Supervisor, Residence,, St David's. Certifies that John Rowlands, Seaman, belongs to the Renown Excise Cutter, James White, Master, out of Milford and Cardigan Bay Station. States that the Renown is now ordered to Dartmouth and that John Rowlands is not on board owing to leave of absence and the ship sailing sooner than expected.

Folio 421: enclosure with folio 418. Note, not dated, from Captain James White, the Renown Excise Cutter, Dartmouth, Devon to unknown recipient. Instructs the recipient that if they intend to join the Cutter to send him word so that he may keep a berth for him and cut the Protection off at the line and to show it to whom it may concern and nothing more.

Folio 422: enclosure with folio 418. Certificate, dated 4 March 1801, signed by James White, Commander, the Renown Excise Cutter, Milford Haven. Certifies that John Rowlands, aged 21, belongs to the Renown and that he was left on shore sick but now wishes to rejoin the cutter at Dartmouth. Gives brief physical description of John Rowlands.
