Folios 416-417: George Burdon, Regulating Officer, Appledore, Devon. Supplies research on characters of John Baller and John Jones as requested in Admiralty letter of 23 June 1801. States that John Baller was brought up in his father's business as a Fallmonger and Breechesmaker in Barnstaple, but left it and has been at sea with Sir Edward Pellew but there is no evidence of him being a Letter Carrier or Livery Servant.
