Folio: 336-337: Edward Buller, East Looe. Requests an Order is issued to bear on the books of HMS Achille as part of her complement, 3 Marines namely William Butler, Thomas Smith and John Bowditch, who had been on board HMS Edgar under his command prior to his exchange with Captain [George Murray], and followed him to HMS Achille with the consent of Captain Murray. Explains that the men have been on board HMS Achille for so long and he has, at considerable expense, been teaching them music to form a band. Adds that there has been no opportunity to carry out the Order to discharge the 3 men to HMS Edgar as HMS Achille has been constantly been employed for 240 days off Rochfort [Rochefort]. Requests that any answer from the Admiralty is addressed to Captain [James] Wallis, Acting Captain of HMS Achille.
