Folios 510-511: George Byng, HMS Galatea. Reports sailing from Cork on 26 June 1800 having under convoy the Luz St Ann with convicts bound for Botany Bay and parted company with her on 10 July, 50 leagues South West of Madiera. From then until 24 August has tried to get to his appointed cruising ground without success owing to strong winds. He then fell in with the Eliza Ann, Admiral Rainier, Thames, Arran, (extra India men ships) from Bengal to London wanting convoy into the Channel and proceeded accordingly meeting HMS Arethusa and HMS Eurydice along the way. He left the India men ships at the Lizard and intends to return to the Cove of Cork for further orders.
