Description

Folios 392-394: George Bowen, HMS Trusty, Spithead. Reports that on 12 March 1800 he sailed from the Cove of Cork together with HMS Dictator and HMS Roebuck as ordered by Admiral Robert Kingsmill [also known as Sir Robert Brice (1st Baronet)], copy of the order enclosed, and this day at 7pm anchored HMS Trusty at Spithead, having lost sight of HMS Dictator in thick weather on the 13 March 1800. Encloses a report [not present] on the state and condition of HMS Trusty together with the state and condition of HMS Roebuck [not present] and also the defects of HMS Trusty [not present].

Folios 393-394: enclosure with folios 392-394. Order dated 21 February 1800 by Admiral Robert Kingsmill [also known as Sir Robert Brice (1st Baronet)], HMS Hussar, Cork Harbour, to George Bowen, HMS Trusty. Orders to take under your command HMS Dictator and HMS Roebuck and receive on board the 54th Regiment and transport them to Spithead informing the Secretary of the Navy of your arrival. You are to cause the Troops to be Victualled as land forces are usually victualled.
