Folios 386-387: Edward Bowater, HMS Magnificent, Cawsand Bay. Reports that HMS Magnificent having been on shore in November 1798 has in consequence lost part of her false keel and her copper covering. Requests she be taken into dock for checks and at the same time the foremast taken out, the cheeks of the Mast Head and Trussel trees having got out of their place, the tops rotten, making the topmasts insecure. Requests also that her complement be completed, being 60 short.
