Folios 375-379: Edward Bowater, HMS Magnificent, Torbay. Regarding the case of John Roxborough said to be a Citizen of America. John Roxborough is born of Scotch parents (by his own account) in America and has been from that country ever since he was 10 years of age, but by thebooks of HMS Magnificent he appears to be born in Stepney and was drafted from HMS Alfred into HMS Magnificent in 1798, has been near 3 years in the service, before that he was in an English Merchantman and taken prisoner by the French and has no documents of his being American.
Folios 376-378: enclosures with folios 375-379: Oath sworn 28 December 1799 by John Roxborough and John Cunningham, Masters of the Juno and Maryland vessels both of Baltimore, North America. Affidavit on behalf John Roxborough, that he is an American Citizen and son of John Roxborough. [Details and description given]. Signed before John Thomas Naylor one of HM Justices of the Peace in and for the Borough of Liverpool.
