Folios 41-43: H E R Baker [Henry Edward Reginald Baker], HMS Thetis, Hamoaze. States that Lieutenant William Morce, appointed to HMS Thetis has not taken up his commission, requests that he is immediately ordered to or that another is appointed. States that the officer who has joined, a young man not more than 17, although a good one is not a first officer. Captain Buller [Edward Buller] of HMS Edgar has given me permission to apply for Charles Claridge, his 4th Lieutenant to be appointed, which could be done quickly as HMS Thetis is nearly ready for sea, the ship is much behind as the fitting did not start until, 8 March 1800.
