Folios 238-240: William Butterfield, Admiral's Office, Portsmouth. Advises that immediately on receiving his commission he set off for Portsmouth but found that HMS Hazard had already sailed and was not able to find her at Cowes nor any hope of catching her at Yarmouth. Asks for directions and whether he should proceed to Plymouth where there are some ships now fitting there for the Irish station.
