Folios 384-385: Sir Henry Blackwood, 8 Queen Anne Street West, London. Has received a report this morning from the First Lieutenant of his ship that HMS Brilliant cannot be taken into dock for at least 10 days. It is then uncertain how long she will be there, and how many defects will be uncovered which were not evident when he sent the general defects report. His private affairs require his personal attendance, but he is confident that the First Lieutenant (G C McKenzie [Mackenzie]) will not delay getting the ship ready for sea as soon as she is out of repairs. Requests further leave until the ship is ready for sea, which should allow him time to settle his affairs without needing to apply for an Acting Captain. As he will not be leaving town, he can join the ship at short notice.
