Folios 224-226: Robert Barlow, HMS Phoebe, Cawsand Bay. Reports the capture of an enemy vessel on 21 December. Gives details of the chase and capture. The vessel is the 36-gun La Nereide commanded by Captain Canon. She sailed from Rochefort 15 days earlier and was victualled for 4 months. Commends his Officers and men , especially his 1st Lieutenant Halliday, Lieutenants Holland and Vaillant. Commends Lieutenant Stewart of the Marines and his Master Mr Cole. They lost one seaman and 2 marines, with 5 seamen and 5 marines injured. They killed 22 of the enemy and wounded 55. They parted company with HMS Pomone on 16 December. The Nereiede is a fine frigate fit for service.
