Folios 213-215: Robert Barlow, HMS Phoebe, Cawsand Bay. On 24 September he sailed from Falmouth with HMS Phoebe and HMS Melampus. On 28 September he fell in with HMS Janus with 23 West Indiamen under her convoy from Jamaica and St Domingo. Captain Bisset of HMS Janus reported that she was disabled and her crew sickly. HMS Doris and HMS Dryad hd joined the convoy off Cape Clear 2 days before and he permitted them to follow their orders. He kept company with HMS Janus with HMS Pheobe and HMS Melampus until this morning when they were abreast the Dodman. He signalled for HMS Melampus to see HMS Janus and her convoy safely into port and return to Falmouth for further orders. He was prevented from getting westward by a heavy gale and anchored in Cawsand Bay until the weather abates.
