Folio 154: S. J. Ballard [Samuel James Ballard], HMS Pearl, Isle St Marcon. On receiving the enclosed letter from Mr Bourne who commands the East Island of St Marcon he went on shore to find out whether any of the people under his command had any complaints. Reports that they are all happy, except for the 3 men complained about, whom he has sent to England for fear they might poison the minds of the others.
Folios 155-156: enclosure with folio 154. Letter dated 16 June 1797 from Richard Bourne, Commander of East Island, to S J Ballard, Captain of HMS Pearl. reports he has confined Bombardier Charles Hawk, Royal Artillery at the request of Lieutenant Rudyard of the Royal Corps of Engineers for disobeying his orders, and John Magen and William Belamy, Privates in the Royal Artillery, for mutiny. Asks fora Court Martial to be held and for the men to be speedily removed from the island.
Folio 156: enclosure with folio 154. Undated fragment of description of W[illia]m Bannalyell (sp?) apparently a sick or wounded seaman on board HMS Spanker.
