Folios 224-225: [Honourable] Courtenay Boyle, HMS Kangaroo, Plymouth Sound. Reports that on 13 July 1796 he left by signal HMS Saint Albans Vice Admiral Van with HMS Emerald and HMS Aurora cruising off Lisbon and on 25 July 1796 being on my cruising station off Spain, he put into Corunna [Coruna] harbour for intelligence and on the preceding day receiving an official letter from the British Consul General that a messenger had arrived with dispatches of the highest consequence from the Marquis of Bute with express orders from his excellency to send the messenger immediately. No other vessel being available he was requested to take the messenger to England. I landed the messenger today at this port and await further orders. Enclosed the Consul General's letter, a Journal of his proceedings, ship's state and condition report and defects report.
Folios 225-226: enclosure in folios in 224-225. Letter dated 26 July 1796 by Alexander Jardine, Coruna, to the Honourable Courtenay Boyle. Letter requesting that a messenger with dispatches from Marquis of Bute, be taken to England as soon as possible.
Folio 226: enclosure in folios in 224-225. Defects report on HMS Kangaroo dated 29 July 1796.
