Description

Folio 183: James Bowen, HMS Glory, St. Helens. Reply to letter dated 24 February 1796 appointing him to HMS Thunderer and that the Commissions are at Sir Charles Saxton's Office for him and 6 Lieutenants of HMS Glory. Informs he is under orders of Rear Admiral Harvey now lying at single anchor, ready to put to sea at a moments notice. Requests an order to deliver the Army Money he has under charge to the Army Agent or to whom it belongs, directing them to pay him the customary freight allowed.
