Folio 325: Velters Cornewall Berkeley, HMS Emerald, the Downs. Reports that he left the Nore at 9am on 27 December with the enclosed list of vessels under convoy. On 23 December [?], while anchored at Margate Roads, the convoy left, disobeying signals, and he has no knowledge of their current situation.

List dated 31 December 1795 by Velters Cornewall Berkeley, HMS Emerald, the Downs, of the 4 vessels from the Nore under convoy of HMS Emerald, with cargoes, number of men and passengers, and destination. vessels: Lord Loughborough, Master Alexander Melvin, carrying naval stores for Portsmouth; Kitty, Master John Sutherland, 55 men, 6 women and 5 children, 30 horses, bound for Spithead but very leaky; Christiana and Francis, Master Thomas Foreman, 21 men, 23 women and children plus regimental stores for 10 different regiments, bound for Spithead.
