Folio 310: Velters Cornewall Berkeley, HMS Emerald, Long Reach. Returns the 2 letters and affidavit relating to Peter Spooner, John Eike, and Christian Schnitzer. He already replied 2 days ago regarding Peter Spooner. John Eike and Christian Schnitzer were impressed on 21 October, since which John Eike has deserted and Christian Scnitzer has been sent to join the Prescott transport, to which he belongs as stated in the letter from the Admiralty (20 October). Both Eike and Schnitzer were impressed from a Gravesend boat, however, and not from the Prescott transport as stated in the Admiralty letter and the affidavit from John Frederick Fisher, and neither had protection. He has issued protection to Christian Schnitzer so that he may return to the Prescott transport without any problem.
