Warrants being issued to pay militia, but rebels [Jacobites] marching from Kendal [Westmorland] will hinder preparations. Securing arms to prevent rebels taking them. Twelve signatures; Captains: R Hesketh; A Harrison; Edward Trafford; Henry Legh; William Hill. Deputy lieutenants and officers:?H Hoghton; Ro Bradshaigh; William Harington; William Shawe; J Blackburne; Foster Cunliffe; C Stanley. Dated at Liverpool [Lancashire].
With supporting letter from Earl of Derby to [Newcastle]. Sir John Ligonier's forces will wait at Litchfield [Lichfield, Staffordshire] for artillery. Will seek 'Common Asylum of the Nation' when duty is done. Dated at Liverpool.
